New Roots of Utah
New Roots is a refugee agriculture program in partnerships with Salt Lake County, the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City and the Utah Refugee Coalition.
Our mission is to promote a healthier lifestyle and greater economic independence for refugees in Utah through community gardens and market gardening. The purpose of the New Roots project is to provide land, facilities, and technical guidance to Utah’s refugee communities who are interested in growing food for both consumption and sale. This is achieved through the development of small-scale, urban micro-farms and community gardens for refugees in Utah.
