First Unitarian Church Environmental Ministry
One of the most important ways UU (Unitarian Universalist) congregations are focusing their environmental energies is through the Green Sanctuary Program, sponsored by the Ministry for Earth. Green Sanctuary “provides a framework for study and reflection, and encourages individual and collective action for responding to the call to heal the Earth.”
First Unitarian’s Environmental Ministry Team is working toward accreditation as a Green Sanctuary. The congregation has nearly completed twelve projects in the areas of Worship & Celebration, Religious Education, Environmental Justice, and Sustainable Living.
The Environmental Ministry does recycling, composting, gardening and other services for First Church. We also partner with diverse organizations to sponsor events, discussions and projects.
